Job Description:
ELS Recruitment are pleased to be supporting a Bedfordshire business in their search for a Financial Controller.
The purpose of the role is to provide effective and dynamic leadership, management and guidance to the Finance Team, whilst maintaining all aspects of the Company’s financial and accounting functions.

Responsibilities
* Support the Chief Finance Officer in meeting the company financial objectives, and deputising when required.
* Managing the finance and credit control team providing best in class management and leadership.
* Oversee the company’s daily cash flow, analysing the company’s financial weaknesses and strengths, whilst proposing corrective actions.
* Pro-actively and effectively communicate with, and support managers to ensure that the monthly closing procedures across the company are executed correctly.
* Completion and submission of Group returns within relevant agreed deadlines.
* Oversee and accurately prepare statutory financial accounts in a timely manner.
* Management, preparation and continual improvement of annual budget and forecasting processes.
* Collaborating with the Commercial Finance Business Partners on monthly performance reviews and budget/forecasting cycles.
* To deliver high quality, timely and relevant financial information to support the SMT and individual departments with decision making.
* Oversee the timely preparation of monthly financial accounts and reports.
* Assist the CFO and SMT on long-term financial business planning and financial prediction modelling.
* Play an active role in evaluating potential acquisition opportunities.
* Lead engagement with external auditors and tax advisers to meet year-end deadlines.
* Oversee tax and HMRC compliance.
* Ensure robust financial systems and processes are in place, streamlining and automating to ensure better efficiency.
* Keep up to date with legal and financial regulations that may impact on the company’s operations.
* Devise strategies to ensure company internal controls and processes remain fit for purpose.
* To champion the implementation of IT enhancements to improve the performance of the finance function.
Personal Skills
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification essential.
* Significant experience in a similar role.
* Excellent business acumen and a good understanding of current financial issues.
* Understanding of business processes in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
* Strong system skills and knowledge of MS packages especially Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI.
* A sound understanding of the month end process.
* Strong communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
