Job Description:
ELS Recruitment Accounting Professionals are proud to be supporting a well known and much loved organisation based centrally in Potters Bar.
The Group requires a Management Accountant for their Finance department working across the entire business.
The primary objective of the role is to support the Finance team in ensuring the Group’s monthly financial position and performance is accurately reported in line with reporting deadlines.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting
Support in the production of accurate and timely management accounts. This will include supporting the month-end close process which will involve:
* Calculating various month end accruals across the Group
* Responsible for preparing and posting staff costs journals and performing requisite checks to ensure accuracy
* Reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts with particular focus on payroll related reconciliations
* Maintaining clear and complete records and schedules
* Ensuring information is received in a timely manner from the relevant facilities
Expected to:
* Support investigatory efforts to provide clear and adequately detailed commentaries on the Group’s performance
* Liaise with the divisional finance leads or other support function heads to ensure costs are accurately reflected
* Provide clear and relevant supplementary reports on analytical variances as required
Processes and Controls
* Ensure the quality control of financial transactions processed
* Support in documenting business processes in order to maintain and strengthen internal controls across the Group
* Provide sound rationale for improvement ideas, explaining potential benefits in a manner that gains buy-in
* Promote a culture of process improvement through liaising with internal stakeholders, particularly Payroll and Commercial Finance
* Assist in the development and documentation of appropriate procedures, automating processes where possible
Other Responsibilities
* Assist with external audit queries and year-end processes
* Whilst there’s no direct line manager responsibility, this role will be responsible for reviewing work completed by the Assistant Management Accountants
Experience and Skills Required
Essential
* Excellent system skills including Excel (Intermediate)
* Strong understanding of payroll processes
* Strong organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
* Team player with willingness to help others and go above and beyond their formal role
* Self-starter with the ability to identify issues and use their initiative to solve problems
* Exercises the utmost discretion when dealing with confidential information
* Thinks critically and has an attention to detail
The role of Management Accountant would suit a candidate who is wanting to take a move out of a small accountancy practice where they have been doing Bookkeeping and/or Management Accounts and payroll preparation.
Qualified by experiance and those wishing to study will be considered
