About Us
Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.
About the Role
We offer a hybrid work environment where both remote work and time in the office play a critical role. Flexible work is a mindset and a core value. Our employees are encouraged to work remotely two days a week as a standard practice and will have flexibility in terms of working hours. Our vision is a future where all employees are empowered to work flexibly to drive the best outcomes for our clients.
the position
The Investment Product and Fund Strategies (IPFS) group is responsible for product management, spanning the full range of Wellington’s product offerings, including equity, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives strategies, globally. Within IPFS sits the Wellington Management Fund’s Global Fund businesses ("WMF Global"), and as of 31 August 2024, WMF Global comprised of just over 80 funds domiciled predominantly in Luxembourg (UCITS and AIFs) and Ireland (UCITS), as well as in Cayman, Australia, Singapore and China, with total assets of circa US$45 billion.
This role sits within the IPFS - WMF Global Fund Product team, and the role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing group, which develops and oversees a variety of commingled funds offered to a diverse set of Wellington’s clients from over 50 countries worldwide.
Job Description
This role will primarily focus on leading the coordination efforts around the creation, oversight, and maintenance of regulatory documentation for the WMF Global business. The role will work very closely with the EMEA Funds Legal team and other Fund Product team members, as well as investment teams and subject matter experts across the business. This role will be the point-person for creating or maintaining ’best in class’ legal and regulatory documentation for various fund activities covering our multiple fund structures and domiciles. In addition, the individual may support members of the Fund Product team in the development of funds and related change activity and other ad-hoc strategic or regulatory projects.
Specific responsibilities include: *Take a leading role in project managing the end-to-end process for the prospectus cycles for our various fund ranges and domiciles. This includes steps required for new fund approvals and various discretionary and regulatory driven fund changes working with external Legal counsel and respective regulators to obtain regulatory approval for new funds and prospectus changes.
*Lead and evolve this process as we expand into new distribution markets e.g., most recently Asia retail registrations for cross border UCITS funds.
*Establish consistency and quality across the various fund offering documents, including shareholder notices and help embed a control and oversight process working with multiple stakeholder groups, that includes partnership with legal and external counsel and relevant vendors. The ultimate aim is to identify and maintain consistent and improved client friendly outcomes in our disclosure and formal communication.
*Look to enhance the coordination and communication around this process with our impacted stakeholders, by helping to direct the following: *Documentation updates (prospectuses, internal governance communications, KIID/KID, regulatory forms, etc) - helping to ensure that all the right documents are generated, consistency of language adopted and delivered on time for the appropriate governance meetings.
*Regulator comments - there can be several rounds of comments, from multiple regulators associated with each submission, running concurrently. This effort also needs to convey a sense of urgency to impacted SME’s as well as ensuring accuracy of responses.
*Client notifications - help draft content and incorporate necessary client communication notice periods into the master scheduling of ’moving parts’.
*External vendor management - owning the relationship with external vendors responsible for the registration and publication of the prospectus, shareholder notices and other fund documentation.
*Implementation updates - coordinate periodic internal communication summarizing upcoming changes and implementation items to the various stakeholder groups impacted by a new fund and fund changes, bringing in the various SMEs where necessary.
Other projects/responsibilities: *Together with the WMF Fund Product team, provide general fund expertise and act as subject matter expert to internal stakeholders for client-specific queries that cannot be fielded by client or fund service teams, such as specific information on fund documentation changes and shareholder communications.
*Lead or assist with ad hoc Fund Product projects. These may include: *Annual Fee and Prospectus review exercise working with investment teams and industry data to ensure that our fees remain competitive and reasonable and the Prospectus is correctly aligned with how our funds are being managed.
*Seed capital and share class reviews to ensure that we are being stewards of the firm’s resources.
*Assist with the management of the Incubation Fund used to help incubate new investment ideas and develop investment talent at the firm.
*Aid in commercial and fiduciary reviews of the fund range to ensure that funds are scaling in line with expectations and have a diversified client base.
Qualifications
We seek individuals who can demonstrate: *An individual likely to have spent +5 years working within asset management or related industry.
*Preference for individuals who has hands on experience with legal or regulatory documents and content with direct experience working in a product/legal role, and a proximity to fund vehicles being highly valued.
*Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify the complex.
*Willingness to take initiative, demonstrate accountability and ownership but also having good judgement about when to seek the wider audience first.A desire to evolve as an individual contributor to the team and over time expand the role to take on more responsibility for components of the fund
