Job Description:
Who are we?
The Recruitment Junction was established in the middle of the pandemic in autumn 2020. We are the first recruitment agency in the North East to place people with criminal convictions into paid work. Our vision is to push back on regional unemployment, as we see ex-offenders rediscover a sense of purpose through work, becoming role models who will drive positive generational impact across their families.
This is already unfolding in such exciting ways – as a start-up charity operating in a recession, we have received grant funding and been awarded significant contracted commissions from a variety of private and public sources, that is propelling our growth at a much faster pace than anticipated. Many local and national employers are trusting us to fill their vacancies, and most importantly have given second chances and paid jobs to 50 people with convictions so far, even in the midst of repeated lockdowns. The majority of those we’ve helped into work till now are at the older end of the workforce, or have committed more serious crimes – in any other world, not the easy-to-place or ’low-hanging fruit’ – and all the more rewarding, and impactful, as a result.
Duties and tasks
*Carry out telephone registrations and first screening interviews with all new candidates, to identify initial motivation, suitability and matching for The Recruitment Junction’s services, and its job opportunities.
* Manage the process of candidate data collection and outcomes reporting, to allow The Recruitment Junction to satisfy the reporting requirements of its funders and commissioners.
*Carry out other general administrative duties as required.
Who are you?
The right person for this role will be an excellent communicator and have the ability to work proactively, managing their time well and have experience of working with IT systems.
You will enjoy engaging with people from all walks of life and have a non- judgemental attitude towards working with ex-offenders. It’s important to be solution focussed, tenacious and tactful when dealing with the candidates,
There is no “set type” of work experience that would qualify you for the job, but we would expect you to have worked for at least 1-2 years already. Or you may be at a much more advanced stage in your working life and be looking for a complete role change.
You will certainly find the idea of talking to people with convictions something which fills you with compassion, and a practical desire to see them move on with their life, and above all a strong belief that they can.
What you will get in return
This role is a full time and permanent role. Hours of work are between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
You will get 28 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
