Position: Primary Teacher (SEND)
Location: London Borough of Brent
Employment Type: Full-time, long term
Salary: MPS 4-6
Start Date: January 2025
Class: Year 2/3
About Us
We are a large, dynamic special school in the London Borough of Brent, serving an incredible community of nearly 200 pupils from Reception through Year 6. Our school provides a supportive and enriching environment for children with diverse learning needs, including a significant number with autism. With a focus on small class sizes and personalised teaching, we aim to foster each child’s academic, social, and emotional development.
Our school features extensive outdoor spaces, specialist rooms, and a heated swimming pool that our pupils enjoy as part of their well-rounded education. In addition to academic subjects, our adapted National Curriculum includes PE, Art, Music, and Life Skills, ensuring a broad and balanced educational experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Primary Teacher, you will:
*Plan and deliver tailored lessons for a small classes of 7 to 10 pupils in Year 2/3, adapting the curriculum to meet the needs and learning styles of each child.
*Foster functional communication, life skills, and social skills in line with our focus on holistic development.
*Collaborate with support staff and other teachers to ensure each pupil receives consistent, individualized attention.
*Implement EHCPs and monitor pupil progress, adjusting strategies to promote learning, independence, and confidence.
*Create a supportive, engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to participate.
Qualifications and Skills
*Required: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK, with experience in primary or SEND education.
*Experience: Previous experience teaching children with special educational needs, ideally with knowledge of autism support strategies.
*Skills:
*Strong understanding of SEND teaching approaches, including behaviour management and communication support.
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families.
*Patience, empathy, and creativity to engage pupils and make learning accessible and enjoyable.
