Job Description:
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Relief Fleet Driver to join our Fleet Operations team. This role is crucial in covering for drivers who are on annual leave or sick leave, ensuring the smooth and safe transportation of passengers across Nottinghamshire. You will be based primarily in West Bridgford, but you will be required to cover various locations within the County.
Key Responsibilities:
*Ensure the safe transportation of all passengers, including vulnerable individuals.
*Maintain a high standard of passenger safety, particularly when assisting wheelchair users.
*Operate vehicles in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidance.
*Complete necessary documentation and reports related to vehicle operations.
*Wear provided protective clothing and PPE while performing duties.
*Assist in emergency/urgent transportation situations as needed.
*Collect fares, issue tickets, and ensure accurate accounting for money taken.
*Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of all fleet vehicles.
*Adhere to legislative requirements, including driving hours regulations and the use of tachographs.
Key Accountabilities:
*Accountable for the condition and safe operation of fleet vehicles.
*Report any concerns that could affect service provision or vehicle safety to Fleet Operations management.
*Alert Fleet Operations to any health and safety concerns impacting safe transport.
*Follow operational procedures and undertake required training.
*Report any concerns regarding service users to management.
*Pay collected fares to the agreed location.
Person Specification:
Education & Knowledge:
*Full, clean driving licence, including Category D Licence (essential).
*Manual Handling training (desirable).
*Knowledge of wheelchair securing methods.
Personal Skills & Competencies:
*Commitment to excellent customer care and service.
*Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
*Strong communication skills and ability to work with colleagues and customers.
*Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and treating everyone with respect.
Experience:
*Minimum of 4 years of driving experience.
*Experience in the transportation of passengers, particularly vulnerable individuals.
*Experience working to tight schedules and managing time effectively.
*Knowledge of or experience in working with vulnerable people (desirable).
