Job Description:
Job Title: Interim Finance Manager
Location: Ipswich
Department: Finance
Reports To: MD
Contract Type: Full-Time, 1 Month Rolling Contract.
Salary: Up to £55,000 Per Annum
Hours: 08:00-17:00 (Office Based)
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Finance Manager to oversee our client’s financial operations and support the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability. This role is central to driving financial planning, maintaining strong internal controls, and managing the approval of payments and expenditures. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of analytical expertise and commercial acumen to help shape financial decision-making and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Planning:
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s objectives. Provide financial insight and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis with clear, actionable insights.
Payment Oversight & Authorisation:
Review and authorise high-value payments, supplier invoices, and staff expense claims in line with internal policies and financial controls.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the organisation maintains a strong liquidity position. Forecast future cash requirements and optimise working capital.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls. Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, financial regulations, and internal procedures.
Team Leadership:
Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with department heads to align financial planning with operational goals. Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
Person Specification:
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (master’s or professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred)
At least 5 years’ experience in a financial management role
Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations and accounting standards
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and financial analysis
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficient in financial systems and software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, Oracle)
