Legal Cashier – Canterbury Office
Location: Canterbury Office (with flexibility to work from home)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:15 PM (1 hour 15-minute break)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier on behalf of our clients to join their busy Accounts team based at their Canterbury office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and a passion for legal finance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager and the wider Accounts team, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
This role requires flexibility to travel between our offices in Canterbury, Ashford, and Whitstable, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
Key Responsibilities
*Processing banking and, on occasion, carrying out the daily bank run
*Issuing cheques and handling client card payments
*Preparing and processing bills
*Performing bank reconciliations
*Managing write-offs and bad debt relief
*Processing conveyancing completions
*Maintaining the central register
*Handling electronic payments and office credit accounts
*Managing petty cash and cost transfers
*Supporting credit control activities
*Assisting with file clearance for archiving
*Troubleshooting and general housekeeping within the accounts function
*Any other duties as required to support the team
What We’re Looking For
*Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or in a similar role within a legal environment
*Essential: Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
*Desirable: Experience with Peppermint software and/or ILFM qualification
*Strong numerical and organisational skills
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*Good communication skills and a professional approach
*Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
*Full UK driving licence and own transport
