Job title: Management Accountant

Location: Epsom- 100% office based

Hourly rate: £25.64- £28.21 per hour PAYE or £32.23- £35.22 per hour via an umbrella.

Length of assignment: 2-3 months

Reporting to the Head of Finance
Overview of the role as the management accountant.

We are working with a fantastic client in the centre of Epsom. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience with management accounts who is able to hit the ground running on a temporary basis. You will be part of an ambitious and growing education and property construction business and will be responsible for supporting the Finance team, reporting to the head of finance.
Responsibilities as the management accountant.

• Produce monthly management accounts packs for review by HOF, providing commentary and detailed insight on the performance and profit and loss reports, analysing variances to budget and manipulating large sets of data.

• Work closely with Project Delivery team (Project manager, QS etc) to monitor project costs, identify project excesses and savings and ensure projects are completed within budget

• Preparation of monthly project cost and timings reports, project summaries and identify and develop new reporting / KPI’s as necessary

• Ensure the timely and accurate submission of regulatory returns such as payroll returns, monthly CIS returns, CITB annual returns, HMRC, Government National Statistics

• Act as Business Partner to various levels of staff

• Have ability to understand data produced by other departments and analyse / explain any financial implications behind the data

• Preparing bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.

• Preparing accruals and prepayments.

• Maintaining monthly schedules and analysis.

• Working to deadlines and working in a high-volume accounts department.
Qualifications and experience required as the management accountant.

• Ideally Part qualified ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) or AAT qualified or QBE

• Excellent knowledge of accounting and finance principles while maintaining great attention to detail and accuracy.

• Highly proficient excel skills – vlookups, pivot tables.

• Experience with an accounting system ideally Sage.

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines

• Possess a professional working attitude and be flexible in taking on new challenges

• Good, confident communicator (with small company exposure so comfortable with engaging with all levels of staff)
Qualifications and experience – desired

• An understanding of Construction / Development with good VAT / CIS knowledge- would be ideal
