Job Description:
Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs? Do you have experience working in a therapeutic setting or a keen interest in developing your skills in this area? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
We are looking for a nurturing and dedicated teaching assistant to join our team at a therapeutic school, a specialist provision for pupils in KS2, 3 and 4 who have SEMH difficulties, some of which may be in foster care. You will work closely with the class teacher and a wider school team to provide a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment for our children. You will also help them to develop their social and emotional skills, self-esteem and confidence.
As a teaching assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of the curriculum and individual learning plans
- Assisting with the assessment and monitoring of pupils’ progress and behaviour
- Providing pastoral care and guidance to pupils
- Participating in the planning and implementation of interventions and therapies
- Liaising with parents, carers and external agencies as required
- Contributing to the school ethos and values
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience of working with children with SEMH needs or other special educational needs
- A positive, flexible and proactive attitude
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
- A willingness to learn from and collaborate with others
- An enhanced DBS check or willing to obtain one through Reed
This is a full-time position, starting after the Easter break. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm. The salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience.
