Job Description:
* Position: Specification Technician/Technologist
* Location: Biggleswade, Beds
* Contract: Permanent, 40 Hours per week/ Monday-Friday
Specification Technician/Technologist:
* Do you have previous experience working as a Specification Technician/Technologist or similar?
* Maybe you have some experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably food?
* Is writing specifications something you’re familiar with?
* Have you got a BSc or food related degree of equivalent experience?
* Are you confident using Microsoft Excel and have strong analytical skills?
* Is dealing with technical food standards such as Food Safety and Quality Standards something you’re familiar with?
* Do you have an awareness of HACCP and basic Food law?
* Are you a confident individual with excellent communication skills with experience dealing with customers and suppliers?

Job Accountabilities:
* Complete customer own format and Development specifications, ingredient declarations and customer formant specifications
* Supply specification and nutritional information for customer product launches for packaging, food safety, allergen and intolerance data
* Complete customer SAQ’s
* Handle customer enquiries on product recipes and the raw materials they contain including country of origin, food scares, health and safety data, allergen and nutritional information generated off the computer recipe management system.
* Support maintenance of the Recipe Management system and work with suppliers to obtain extra information where required.
* Maintain awareness of legislative issues including UK and EU food law. Disseminate information as appropriate as well as looking into international food law and regulations.
* Responsible for placing new products on to the production system, including all relevant technical and packaging requirements, within required deadlines.
* Responsible for approving and placing new raw materials on the system and ensuring all specifications and supplier questionnaires are kept up to date and approved on the system.
* Maintaining the supplier database.
* Develop knowledge of the key ingredients within coatings, seasoning blends, binders and thickeners including raw materials and their functions.
* Develop a full understanding of our clients capabilities and knowledge of the production and quality standards required.
* GMO, work with suppliers to ensure compliance with legislation and customer expectation on this developing area.
* Complete end to end specifications enabling customers to complete field to fork traceability.
* Keep up to date on EU Food Law alerts and Rapid Alerts.
* Monitor and keep up to date all relevant Raw material, allergen, Supplier and packaging risk assessments for all sites.
