Job Description:
ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for a Tutor with experience of supporting pupils with Mental Health needs in Uxbridge.
What ASEND Tuition Is
We are looking for inspirational and empathetic tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Uxbridge. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a new special school placement while they are waiting for it.
We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.
About The Pupil
We are looking for an experienced tutor to support a 13-year-old girl in Uxbridge with developing boundaries and help re-engage in learning. Our pupil has a diagnosis of Autism, some difficulty with speech and language and struggles with mental health, which can make it challenging for her to engage with others and make learning difficult. This does not hold her back from finding joy in her hobbies and interests which include singing, horror movies and playing Roblox. We would love to find someone who would be able to incorporate her interests to help her engage with her education. She is a resilient young person who has made a lot of progress in terms of communication and in her education, and we’re looking for someone who could improve this further and support her along the journey.
The ideal candidate needs to be someone who is empathetic and understanding, as she has been through a lot and will need a sensitive tutor. Someone who has experience with emotional and sensory regulation would also be a bonus.
About you:
* You’ll have some experience with SEN: Autism, Speech and language difficulties, and SEMH
* You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
* You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
* You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
* Ideally, have some experience in helping children with their learning
* Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
* Use a person-centred approach in their work
* Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
* Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
Benefits:
* Generous and competitive rates of pay
* Opportunities for professional development
* Friendly support and guidance to enable you to meet the individual needs of learners and to ensure that you feel confident in your position
* Training in working with children with SEND
* Option to arrange work around the existing schedule
* Join a friendly and supportive team
At ASEND you will always be well supported by our highly qualified and experienced team and well-remunerated for your work.
