Salary up to £85,000 plus competitive benefits package, including 25 days annual plus public holidays, enhanced employer pension contribution (up to 7.5% employer contribution) and life assurance x5 salary.
  
Medlock Partners have partnered with a well-established and growing Engineering Manufacturing business to help them appoint an experienced Head of Operations to join their Senior Leadership Team.

Reporting into the Managing Director and working closely with the Engineering Director, Finance Director and Commercial Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations processes run smoothly and cohesively. This primarily includes the responsibility to deliver a high-quality product at the correct cost and with an exceptional level of service.

Key responsibilities for the Head of Operations:
* Ensure the day-to-day operations processes run smoothly and cohesively.
* Develop and deploy an operational strategy to drive and deliver competitive advantage and continuous performance improvement through safe and efficient use of resources and implementation of new technologies, systems or processes.
* Plan Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics and Manufacturing Engineering. Additional responsibilities include those related to the maintenance of the existing SAP ERP solution and the implementation of new M3 ERP solution as per the group standard.
* Provide strategic leadership for the operations team as well as effectively manage the CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
* Responsibilities to include EH&S, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics and Manufacturing Engineering.
* Objectives include: 10% reduction in manufacturing scrap per annum, 1 percentage point increase in direct labour utilisation per annum, 10% reduction in set up time per annum (translating into further productivity improvements), 90%+ On Time Delivery at order line, stocked range availability > 95%, lead Time reduction for standard / configured products from an average 9 weeks to an average 6 weeks from order to supply.
Key requirements for the Head of Operations:
* End to End Operations experience & knowledge (S&OP, Supply Chain, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Stock Management / Control, QA / QC, Workplace Health & Safety, HR).
* Good Knowledge of Metal Machining (CNC) and mechanical assembly in an engineering manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of working within a structured, fully integrated, ERP environment.
* Strong knowledge of finite scheduling.
* Knowledge of shop floor reporting software.
* The norm includes continuous improvement initiatives, utilisation of Lean tools, reducing process waste/variation and consistently improved product quality.
* Leadership standard work includes Gemba walks, tracking of work centre performance and audits.
* Experience of Six sigma or 5s lean principles.
* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment with multiple on-going short/long term tasks.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with sound business judgement.
* Excellent IT skills with high proficiency in MS Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project), etc.
* A self-starter with the ability to work with the minimum of supervision and direction.
* Bachelor’s degree Qualified in Engineering / Manufacturing or similar disciplines or equivalent industrial experience.
* Strong operations experience within a manufacturing environment with extensive man management skills / experience.
* Experience of working with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 management systems
* NEBOSH qualification would be an advantage.
