What it’s like to work here You’ll be a member of the Collections and House Team, reporting to the Collections and House Officer. You’ll be part of a team of Collection Assistants to deliver our ambitions as one of the Trust’s Discovery Houses. There will be many opportunities to develop within this role including leading conservation and experience projects.
Hardwick, an impressive Elizabethan masterpiece, with a world-class collection of textiles, paintings and furniture, gardens, a working flour mill and heritage listed estate, has something for everyone. We’re passionate about caring for this wonderful property and visitors are at the heart of all we do. We’re a busy, driven team, who likes a challenge. We collaborate with each other and the wider property to engage, share our stories and provide exceptional service.
What you’ll be doing As a Collections Assistant, you’ll be working with a great housekeeping team in an incredible place, helping with the day-to-day cleaning and care of the collections. No detail will go unnoticed, and you’ll keep a keen eye on everything from the environmental conditions in a room, to signs of wear and tear. You’ll keep accurate records too.
In this visitor facing role, we’d love you to talk to visitors about the work you’re doing, and the collections we have. You’ll also be part of the wider team of employees and volunteers, helping to cover where necessary.
