Job Description:
Summary Your role will be to provide an exceptional visitor experience through various styles of storytelling and guided tours. This storytelling will celebrates the property’s ’Spirit of Place’ and you will be able to connect and engage with audiences of all types and ages. You will be the face of our unique and bespoke experiences, bringing the story to life for our visitors. You will be apart of a team of Storytellers and volunteers who work across the multiple venues on the property.
This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year
Salary: £22,698
Contract: Fixed until July 2026
Interviews: 18th June
What it’s like to work here This former cotton mill was built in 1784 and is one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites. The busy estate hosts many schools programmes and events, which help bring Quarry Bank’s fascinating story to life. New areas of the estate will shortly open to the public, creating additional project-based roles. This is an exciting opportunity to work in fast growing location and the team pride themselves on being dynamic, highly motivated and passionate people.
Click here for more information about this location What you’ll be doing You will deliver guided tours and bespoke experiences with flare and theatre to both visitors and school groups, holding the space and engaging with a mix of audiences ensuring visitors have an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. Working across the Apprentice House, Quarry Bank House and the Workers Cottage, you will deliver varying engaging talks and tours, sometimes in costume and delivering an in character tour to our visiting schools.
The working pattern is as follows:
Summer Hours - March - October:
Week A: Monday, Tuesday, Sunday
Week B: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday
Winter Hours - November - February:
Week A: Saturday, Sunday
Week B: Thursday
Week C: Saturday, Sunday
Week D: Thursday

* great team worker, willing to be adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced visitor environment.
* excellent people skills, a great ability to communicate with varying audiences
* a passion for the unique experience person-led interpretation can bring a visit.
