Job Description:
Our client, a cultural charitable organisation with several sites across South Lakes and the Lake District are looking to appoint a part time Interim Finance Manager for around 3 months to start asap.
Working closely with the SLT and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer the interim accountant will bridge the gap whilst the organisation appoint the role with someone full time, permanent. The role is working 4 days per week, 10:00 -16:00 (approx 24 hours) and be visible across different sites with the opportunity of some flexible/hybrid working.
Core accountabilities will include:
* Overseeing a small finance team
* Prepare detailed month end management accounts, balance sheets, cash flow statements, vat returns and financial reports.
* Cash management
* Overseeing budgets and forecasts
* Financial reporting and statutory requirements.
* Liaison with third parties including treasurer trustee, bank & auditors
* Support grant applications by preparing detailed financial information and ensuring compliance with grant conditions in a timely manner.
* Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices for charitable organisations.
* Advise the Board of Trustees on governance matters, ensuring compliance with the organisation’s governing documents and relevant legislation.
Qualification, skills and experience sought:
* Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is essential.
* Significant experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within the charitable or cultural sector.
* Strong understanding of charitable accounting, including SORP, and experience in managing funds in both charitable and commercial contexts.
* Demonstrated experience in tax relief schemes (desirable)
* Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly.
* Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading a finance team.
* High level of proficiency in Xero
