Job Title: Head of English
Location: The Grange Therapeutic School, Knossington, Oakham
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am–4.30pm (4pm Friday)
Contract Permanent, Term Time only
As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of English to join our close-knit team at The Grange Therapeutic School located in Knossington, Oakham.
About the role
Main duties
* To take responsibility for planning, implementing, and monitoring the English curriculum in both Upper and Lower School
* To be responsible to the SLT re the English curriculum and represent the school re English at Ofsted inspections.
* To manage the English department resources and budget.
* To complete development planning for the English curriculum
* To deliver English up to including GCSE or BTEC to groups of up to 6 pupils
* To act as a tutor to up to 6 pupils
* To support pupils to improve their personal development and social skills.
* To support out of classroom activities as part of a broad and varied curriculum
* To ensure Child Protection and Safeguarding is of paramount importance, including being aware of all risk assessments.
* Follow procedures for accident, illness, absconding and absence for pupils and to adhere to all school policies.
* Contribute to any meetings that are called for the education and welfare of pupils, including training.
* Attend department, behaviour whole school staff meetings.
* To conduct any reasonable duties as directed by the principal or their representatives.
Essential
* QTS
* Experience of working with pupils with SEN
* 3 plus years’ experience of teaching
* Knowledge of GCSE curriculum
* Strong skills of differentiation
* Ability to use basic IT packages such as word
* Knowledge of the challenges facing pupils and parents with SEMH issues

Our school is based in a Victorian country house near Oakham with stunning views and fantastic facilities to develop not only the educational, but also the social and emotional needs of our pupils.
