Senior Buyer - Engieering Sector
* Permanent Position

The Candidate will have experience in working in a project based mechanical engineering environment with good knowledge of technical procurement.
You need to be familiar with both electrical and mechanical engineering processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Execute technical procurement activities in a project-based manufacturing environment, ensuring a balance between quality, delivery, and cost considerations.
* Lead supplier selection and development initiatives, evaluating potential suppliers based on criteria such as quality standards, delivery capabilities, and cost competitiveness.
* Apply a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical processes to effectively engage with suppliers and assess technical requirements.
* Creation of new supplier accounts on company ERP system
* Maintenance of supplier database to ensure that all vendors are approved for use in line with the company’s Supplier Approval Procedure
* Compilation and analysis of price & delivery requests to suppliers
* Monitoring of actual costs against costing documents to ensure that job budgets are complied with, and communication of any discrepancies to the Project Managers
* Communication with all interested parties (Project Managers, Production Planning / Management) to update on supply status and to ensure that all materials are available in line with agreed manufacturing program.
* Review reorder levels and quantities of stocked components in line with current demand.
* Assist with company annual stocktake.
* Identification of new vendors, supply methods and system improvements to assist the company’s purchasing and stock control processes.
* To be involved in any projects for cost reduction, product development or process improvement, as required.
* To contribute towards and assist in the implementation of new Supply Chain processes.
* To tender, evaluate and award contract of supply agreements which achieve overall cost savings and efficiencies for the department.
* To identify and engage with potential new suppliers.
* Benchmarking vendor prices for regular purchased items to ensure the company is receiving best value.
* Contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of Procurement guides and procedures.
* To deputise as part of the management structure of the company if the Procurement Manager is unavailable.
Skills & Experience:
* Experience in a manufacturing based purchasing role
* A broad understanding of mechanical and electrical processes.
* Competence when interpreting engineering CAD drawings.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
* Excellent computer skills (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
