Job Description:
Position Title: Key Stage 3-4 Chemistry Teacher
Location: Carterton, Oxfordshire
Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Head of Science Department
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Chemistry Teacher to join our team at this school in Carterton, Oxfordeshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Chemistry to students in Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Chemistry, a commitment to educational excellence, and the ability to inspire and engage students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality chemistry lessons in line with the national curriculum and school standards.
* Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess students’ work, provide constructive feedback, and use assessment data to inform and adjust teaching strategies.
* Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
* Student Engagement: Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and promote a love for chemistry.
* Lesson Planning: Develop and implement detailed lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
* Professional Development: Participate in continuous professional development opportunities and contribute to departmental and school-wide initiatives.
* Parent Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
* Collaborative Working: Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and strategies for improving student outcomes.
* Extra-curricular Activities: Contribute to the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and chemistry-related clubs or competitions.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Education, or a related field. A postgraduate teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is preferred.
* Certification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
* Experience: Previous experience teaching chemistry at the Key Stage 3 and 4 levels is highly desirable.
* Skills: Strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
* Technology: Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning.
