Assistant Psychologists in the Neuropsychiatry Division
Location: NorthamptonSalary: From £25,200 per annumHours: Full Time (37.5 per week)

We provide specialist mental healthcare and deliver a range of inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve lives.
Your role with us
A number of roles have become available due to post-holders moving on to clinical training or Masters Courses. The successful applicants will join an existing team of Clinical Neuropsychologist, Clinical & Forensic Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Associates in Psychology, and Assistant Psychologists. Duties are varied, but will include assisting with psychological and behavioural assessment of patients, clinical audit, staff training, and facilitating group therapy/education programmes; as well as contributing to research and service development within the Division. We pride ourselves on providing a rounded experience for our Assistant Psychologists that includes many opportunities to deliver psychological intervention to groups or individuals, alongside specialist clinical administration such as writing up Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
Your profile
Applicants should have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in Psychology, and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. You must have either previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting where patients have behaviour that challenges; or a relevant post graduate qualification (e.g. a Neuro or Health Psychology Masters, training in a therapy or counselling, etc.). You will also be computer literate and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
You will work with adults that have an acquired brain injury or neurodisability or dementia and who require specialist in-patient rehabilitation to address their difficulties with cognition, and/or behaviour control, and/or physical disability, and/or mental health. A neurobehavioural model and the Enhanced Model of Dementia Care underpin the work of the Division, and the Psychology Team has a lead role in supporting and developing this therapeutic milieu. Working under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, Clinical &Forensic Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of psychology interventions and contributions across ward areas. Relevant experience of working with people that have sustained a life altering brain injury or who are living with dementia, and who have behaviour that challenges services, will be of value.
