Day to Day of the role: * Deliver a broad, balanced, and differentiated biology curriculum to students, supporting a designated curriculum area as needed.
* Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher and form tutor.
* Facilitate and encourage a learning experience that enables students to achieve their individual potential.
* Contribute to raising standards of student attainment and share in the academy’s drive to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
* Engage in operational and strategic planning, including lesson planning, resource development, and contributing to the departmental plan.
* Maintain high-quality teaching standards, ensuring a stimulating learning environment for all students.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders, maintaining positive relationships.
Required Skills & Qualifications: * Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
* Successful teaching experience at secondary level, ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and of working in an 11-18 school.
* Understanding of effective teaching and learning theories and practices.
* Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4.
* Ability to work as part of a team and develop positive relationships with all staff.
* Proficient ICT skills, ideally including the innovative use of interactive whiteboards.
* Ability to create a motivating and safe learning environment.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Strong leadership and time management skills.
* Ability to motivate students and raise their aspirations.
