Job Description:
New opportunity with a company providing commercial property, casualty, marine and credit insurance products, and who is also a member of one of the world’s largest general insurers. The successful candidate will need to be proactive, a good communicator with strong methodical and organisational skills, with a close eye for detail. You will also have to demonstrate an ability to work with large sets of data, think analytically and solve problems. You will be expected to challenge the status quo.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Financial reporting including assistance with production of the statutory accounts and Solvency II Pillar 3 returns
* Coordinate with the external audit team and the wider business to prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the auditors.
* Detailed analysis and control of financial systems and ledgers
* Assist with the preparation of other regulatory returns (eg. NAIC, NCID)
* Assist with preparation of reports to other authorities and organisations (eg. ABI, ONS)
* Assist with preparation of quarterly and year end reporting packages to Head Office in Tokyo
* Liaising with Head Office in Tokyo addressing queries and providing additional information as required
* Responsible for the preparation of technical and non-technical accounting transactions
* Assist with internal and external reporting requirements
* Assist with production and development of monthly and ad-hoc management reports including meaningful performance metrics
* Development and improvement of reporting processes
* Preparation of monthly journals
* Ad hoc project work
* Provide cover/assist other members of the Finance team where necessary
Too be successful in this role, you will need to be/have:
* Training towards ACA qualification
* Strong analytical skills and mathematically inclined, with ability to manipulate large data sets
* Good working knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUPs, IF, SUMIFS and use of pivot tables deemed a minimum)
* Previous use of Oracle
* Experience of working in an accounting function or as an auditor
* Insurance industry/Financial services experience
