Teaching Assistant | Hammersmith, W6 | £90-£105 | Long-Term to Permanent | September 2024
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our partner school’s support staff team in Hammersmith, supporting a child in Year 1 who has Non-Verbal Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role involves providing essential support to ensure the child’s educational and personal development within the school environment.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in implementing individualized education and behaviour plans under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher.
* Support the child during classroom activities, ensuring inclusion and participation.
* Provide personal care assistance as required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
* Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, employing strategies to promote communication and social interaction.
* Monitor and record progress, contributing to ongoing assessments and reviews.
Requirements:
* Experience working with children with ASD or similar special educational needs.
* Understanding of non-verbal communication methods and augmentative communication systems.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with children and colleagues.
* Flexibility to adapt support strategies based on individual needs and responses.
* Relevant qualifications or willingness to undergo training as necessary.
