SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Hammersmith and Fulham, London
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm
Salary: £95-£105 per day
Start Date: September
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of our all through Schools in Hammersmith and Fulham. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our students’ educational and emotional needs, working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the learning and development of students with SEMH needs.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
* Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide targeted interventions.
* Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive social interactions.
* Collaborate with teachers to adapt and deliver engaging lessons.
* Provide emotional and social support to students, fostering a positive school experience.
* Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
* Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of all students.
Desirable:
* Experience in a primary / secondary school setting.
* Knowledge of strategies and interventions for supporting SEMH needs.
* First Aid training.
* Additional qualifications related to special education or child development.
