Commercial Manager, Corporate Pensions


This is a senior role in our Corporate Pensions business, reporting into the Head of Corporate Pensions.

Commercial Managers are responsible for the development, management and maintenance of our Corporate Pensions propositions which include Stakeholder, GPP, MPP and AVC schemes. We manage the proposition for more than 400,000 customers and more than £11bn of their pension savings.

The successful candidate will be accountable for a variety of projects and work items at different times. These projects can include propositional development, regulatory change, product reviews, market research. support of regulatory committees and collaboration with Client Facing colleagues. You will develop and utilise effective working relationships across the business and externally with our outsourced service providers and 3rd parties.

The ideal person will be a customer focussed, and credible individual with significant experience of workplace pensions in both Trust and Contract type schemes. Great attention to detail and being able to manage competing priorities is critical. This is a great opportunity to be part of a strong, collaborative and busy team and to work with a broad range of disciplines from across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

* To champion both the rules and the spirit of the Consumer Duty
* To represent the Corporate Pensions Team in ensuring that our propositions continue to meet the promises we made to customers and comply with regulatory expectations
* To demonstrate a deep understanding of workplace pension / corporate pension products and the rules and regulations that they are operated within
* To communicate any proposed product changes and, where appropriate, the options for compliance, clearly and concisely to colleagues on projects and key stakeholders across the business, following the appropriate governance processes
* To be highly visible and to collaborate well with project managers and project team members
* To assimilate complex and detailed technical information to present in a clear, understandable and persuasive way for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
* To have the ability to lead multiple activities at one time and manage own workload and the activity of others
* To have the ability to apply judgement to decision making and know when to escalate and/or ask for support

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential

* In-depth knowledge and experience of workplace pension / corporate pension propositions and a good understanding of best practice within the market
* Able to clearly articulate the challenges and developments ahead for the workplace / corporate pensions market
* To be able to lead and drive propositional change through to delivery
* Knowledge and experience of the financial services industry, its regulators and the current regulatory environment
* The ability to read and interpret rules, regulations and guidance published by the FCA, TPR, PRA and government entities
* Experience of leading delivery across cross-functional teams (including third party business partners)
* Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and processes
* Proven experience in building and developing networks across the business and stakeholder management at senior levels
* The ability to effectively prioritise and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously at pace
* Demonstrates energy, enthusiasm, resilience and pragmatism

Desirable

* Working towards or completed relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CII, PMI etc.)
* Previous experience of supporting product reviews and regulatory governance committees
