Grounds Technician - Bedfordshire

Pertemps is currently recruiting for a Ground Technician for a local college in Bedfordshire.

The main purpose of this role is to undertake grounds maintenance duties across sites and ensure they are maintained to a high standard.

Salary: £24,500

Hours: 8 am-5 pm

Duties: * To assist with planning improvements to grounds areas across the sites, and to provide a design and planting plan to cover all seasons.
* You will be using pedestrian and ride-on mowers, hedge trimmers, brush cutters, leaf blowers, and backpack sprayers. Experience in the use of these tools is essential.
* Your duties will include grass cutting and lawn maintenance, strimming and leaf clearance, general maintenance to shrub beds, bed restoration/preparation and planting.
* Duties will also include hedge cutting and pruning, weed control, leaf clearing and winter gritting.
* To work alongside, advise, and oversee any external contractors that are appointed to undertake larger landscaping/tree works.
* To carry out small hard landscaping works including installation of fencing, paving, and hard-standing areas.

Requirements: * Appropriate horticulture qualification at level 2 or equivalent.
* Trained to operate horticultural, tractors, machinery, and grass cutting equipment, both rotary and cylinder.
* Trained to handle hedge-cutting and strimming equipment.
* Minimum of 2 years horticultural experience.
