What we are looking for?
We are currently seeking a diligent and versatile Payroll and Compliance Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth payroll operations while supporting accreditation and compliance initiatives. You will provide direct support to the Group HR & Corporate Services Director, focusing not only on payroll but also on diversifying into compliance and accreditation tasks. Experience with ISO and quality or environmental management systems/standards is highly advantageous.
Location: HR Office - Orrell, Wigan
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

What will we expect in return?
Payroll:
* Manage and process monthly payroll for approximately 150 colleagues, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
* Handle a small weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
* Provide cover for payroll colleagues during absences.
* Ensure accurate calculation and processing of statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, National Insurance, pensions).
* Address payroll-related queries promptly and efficiently.
* Maintain accurate payroll records, including data entry and verification.
* Prepare and submit necessary payroll reports to internal stakeholders and external bodies (e.g., HMRC).
Expenses
* Manage and oversee the Group wide expense system (SAP Concur), ensuring new starters are added correctly, authorisation levels are aligned with company policy, mileage rates are reviewed and maintained quarterly, and address concur system related queries from colleagues promptly and efficiently.
Compliance & Accreditation:
* Assist in maintaining and updating our QMS for ISO9001 compliance.
* Support the process of obtaining ISO14001 accreditation and manage the EMS.
* Prepare for internal and external audits related to ISO accreditations.
* Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance compliance with ISO standards.
* Support CHAS, Safe Contractor, Avetta, and other accreditations.
General Administration:
* Provide comprehensive administrative support across various departments.
* Maintain and organize documents and records related to payroll, compliance, and accreditation.
* Assist with special projects and initiatives supporting business objectives.
* Coordinate with different departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
What do we need from you?
* Proven experience in payroll management with knowledge of payroll software and statutory requirements.
* Understanding of accreditation and compliance processes, preferably with experience in ISO9001 and/or ISO14001 (training provided).
* Interest in compliance and accreditation processes beyond payroll duties.
* Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Organized, self-motivated, and capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Relevant qualifications in payroll management or compliance.
* Proficiency in payroll software (ideally Sage 50) and other business applications.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Teams, PowerPoint).
