About Us Northumberland Children’s Services is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in our community. Our team works tirelessly to protect children from harm and ensure they have the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment. We are seeking a committed and experienced Social Worker to join our Child Protection team.
Role Overview As a Social Worker in our Child Protection team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. You will manage a varied caseload, carrying out assessments, planning interventions, and working closely with families and professionals to protect children from harm.
Key Responsibilities * Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks and needs, ensuring the safety of children.
* Intervention: Develop and implement effective intervention plans to protect children and support families in crisis.
* Case Management: Manage a diverse caseload, maintaining detailed and accurate records, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
* Collaboration: Work in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams, including health, education, and legal professionals, to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.
* Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of children, ensuring their voices are heard in the planning and decision-making processes.
* Review: Regularly review and update care plans, ensuring they remain relevant and effective in meeting the needs of children and families.
* Safeguarding: Take immediate action to safeguard children in cases of emergency, following established protocols and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience * Essential:
* Qualified Social Worker with a current registration with Social Work England.
* Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding.
* Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Proven ability to manage complex cases and make informed decisions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Desirable:
* Previous experience in a similar role within a child protection team.
* Advanced training or qualifications in child protection and safeguarding.
