Job Description:
Role: System Safety Engineer Trainer | Trainer System Safety Engineer
Location: Yeovil | Hybrid | 2 days a week in the office
Role Type: Contract | 12 months, ongoing
Salary: up to £63 an hour, depending on experience
Position Overview:
Reporting to our clients Systems Safety and Environmental Engineering Manager and working closely with other programme safety leads and engineers, this role focuses on system safety development and in-service System Safety activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Development of Safety Artefacts and Documentation:
Create Operational, Product, and System Safety documents in line with Defence Standard 00-056 for Land Based Training systems and equipment.
Develop Project/Programme Safety Management Plans.
Identify and compare applicable legislation and regulations, including international directives (primarily US and EU).
Conduct safety assessments of synthetic training equipment designs, influencing design to meet safety considerations.
Perform Hazard Identification and Analysis:
Preliminary Hazard Identification
Functional Failure Analysis
Operating and Support Hazard Analysis
Occupational Health Hazard Analysis
Maintain Hazard Logs.
Develop Safety Cases, Safety Case Reports, and Safety Arguments.
Collaboration:
Ensure close liaison with the client, customer, and supplier technical disciplines to gather evidence supporting the Safety Case.
Training Delivery Assurance:
Ensure training delivery captures functional and physical safety requirements.
Customer Interaction:
Proactively support customer safety meetings and chair System Safety Working Groups.
Programme Planning and Support:
Assist and lead, as appropriate, in planning and supporting Training Service safety activities.
Risk Management:
Identify, monitor, and manage risks, issues, and opportunities; develop mitigation plans.
Legislation and Regulation Compliance:
Identify and apply appropriate safety legislation and regulations.
Process Development:
Support the development, maintenance, review, and update of safety processes.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with the implementation of the BDUK Safety Management System within our client’s Training Service.
Support the development of system safety engineering planning and products across a range of services.
