Job Description:
The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with an entrepreneurial business in the Fife area in the recruitment of a head of finance/financial controller. The role has been created as a result of a recent acquisition and is for all intents and purposes a brand new role within the organisation.
The benefits package is currently being finalised, however in our view it is a highly attractive package.
The role reports directly into the owners of the business and will spearhead the delivery of the finance agenda for the organisation. There is external support within the organisation from a finance prospective, however this is only on a part time basis and for an interim period of time.
Working in one of the Fife offices you will be responsible for the line management of a medium sized finance team who seek leadership and direction.

On a day to day basis you will be overseeing the fundamental elements of the finance operation, you will be accountable for the delivery of strategic information for the board as well as management accounts, statutory accounts and general finance business partnering support to the widder business.
On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Oversite of the running of a finance function ensuring that AP/AR and GL are efficiently/effectively managed.
Team management and ensure that team moral is harnessed and the team work as a singular team.
Work closely with the executive team to advise on financial matters and advising on financial position regularly.
Completion of the monthly management accounts, board packs and present financial information monthly.
Finalisation of statutory accounts and ensure that financial accounts are appropriately filled as per statutory requirements.
Take the lead in budgeting, forecasting and analysis of finance performance on a monthly quarterly and annual basis.
Completion of cashflow forecasts and review on a regular basis.
The Requirements
We appreciate that it is challenging for student/post study VISA candidates, however this role is a permanent post with no option for sponsorship. As such we are only accepting applicants from candidates who can work permanently in Scotland and who have experience of working in a finance function in Scotland.
In addition, we would expect the successful candidate to hold a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA or be a fellow. The role will be hands on and we would expect to see applicants who have some experience from industry, however we would be open to applications from candidates transitioning from practice.
The owners of the business are non-financial entrepreneurs who understand the importance of financial controls and processes however the need to influence, persuade and guide is critical. As such we are looking for an individual who could communicate financial matters in a succinct, understandable format both verbally and in written form. We are also looking for a strong people management skill set to bring the existing team along the journey.
The system that our client uses is Xero, however there is a chance that this could be changing in the future. Experience of using systems similar to this would be required as would strong Excel skills.
If you are interested in hearing more detail about this role or would like to have a confidential chat about a potential career move, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
COVID19 statement
Our client will be expecting the successful applicant to be based in the office on a blended working model, the model that we are working with is 80% in the office and 20% working at home, however this may change and you may be expected to work more often in the office. If, however, applicants wish to work longer in the office the option is available to them.
