Our client a well-recognised professional membership body with over 40,000 students and members worldwide is currently seeking to appoint a Head of Membership Strategy
The Role
The Head of Membership Strategy is a key leadership role with a diverse mix of responsibilities to attract, grow and retain the institute’s membership. The role has responsibility for leading and advising on growing member numbers and all aspects of the membership experience, including:
Membership Acquisition Strategy Development:
Design and execute a comprehensive membership strategy that aligns with the institute’s membership growth KPI’s.
Lead on the delivery of the member value proposition.
Analyse membership trends and market research to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Engagement and Retention:
Develop initiatives to increase member engagement and retention rates.
Implement effective communication strategies and platforms to increase the sense of community and belonging among members.
Volunteer and Member Collaboration:
Work closely with members and branch volunteers to leverage their expertise and insights in shaping membership programs and services.
Ensure a collaborative approach to decision-making and project execution.
Business Development:
Identify and pursue business development opportunities that enhance membership value and institute revenue.
Build partnerships with external organisations to expand our reach and impact.
Leadership and Management:
Lead and manage the membership team and Contact Centre, setting clear objectives, and providing guidance and support to achieve strategic goals. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
Reporting, Processes and Analysis:
Regularly report on membership metrics and performance against targets.
Ensure all membership departmental processes are documented and up to date.
Utilise data and feedback to inform strategy adjustments and continuous improvement efforts.
Work collaboratively with the IT team and Business Analyst to identify opportunities to improve processes within the CRM
Person Specification
An influential advocate of change with a track record of instigating, leading and delivering significant change projects
A strong departmental leader with impressive communication and operational skills, with a proven track record of delivering positive results in a membership environment. You’ve managed resources and budgets, worked collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience of leading a process of systems and processes innovation and change, including exploration of digital avenues
Experience of working with a diverse, and international, customer base
Experience in the use of a CRM system to drive service improvement, analyse and plan membership engagement and inform decision-making
Commercial acumen, and familiarity with working to and assisting with the preparation of budgets
