Job Description:
Our client based in Banbury provides a range of customised services, including warehousing, distribution, and sales and marketing, to support partnered manufacturers of medical and surgical products across the UK.They are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join and lead the purchasing team during this period of unprecedented growth. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of medical devices and related supplies for the business. This role ensures that all purchasing activities align with company standards, regulatory requirements, and cost-efficiency goals. The Purchasing Manager will manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and work closely with the operations, finance, and quality assurance teams to ensure the seamless supply of high-quality medical devices.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company’s operational and financial objectives.
* Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure a robust and reliable supply chain.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and negotiate favourable terms.
* Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and manage any issues or disputes.
* Negotiate contracts, including terms, pricing, and delivery schedules, to secure the best possible deals.
* Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and minimise excess or obsolete inventory.
* Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics teams to manage inventory efficiently.
* Analyse market trends and price fluctuations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Implement cost-control measures and track purchasing performance against budget.
* Ensure all purchased products meet regulatory standards and quality requirements.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
* Lead and develop the purchasing team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
* Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.
* Use data analysis to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Previous Experience/Qualifications:
* Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is preferred.
* Previous experience in procurement, preferably in the medical devices or healthcare industry is preferred.
* Proven track record of managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.
* Experience in regulatory compliance related to medical devices is highly desirable.
