Job Description:
This technology led service and maintenance business has an exciting new opportunity for a Financial Controller to support their continued growth. Reporting into the MD and operating as a key part of the management team they are ideally looking for a fully qualified Accountant with previous experience at a similar level within a growing SME. The role will suit someone with drive and ambition, who can positively influence a business and increase profitability.
Following recent investment into systems and management software they are able to offer a complete solution to customers. Utilising technology and modern equipment deployed by specialist operatives via a network of depots across the UK. A key part of this role will be utilising these systems to analyse and report performance to depot managers and influence positive change where necessary. You must therefore be a confident communicator, able to manage and lead staff to improve processes within the finance function and the rest of the business.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
• Responsible for the finance function, supervising a team of two staff and reporting into the MD
• Managing month end process, recording bank reconciliations, transactional activity etc.
• Producing the monthly management accounts including consolidation of depot P&L’s
• Develop robust budgeting, with variance analysis by working with managers throughout the business
• Prepare accurate forecasts and cashflow management processes
• Controlling bank payments and long term cash position of the business
• Produce monthly KPI’s, recommending opportunities to improve performance
• Preparation of year end statutory accounts and liaising with external accountants
• VAT returns, HMRC reporting, government statistics, annual submissions etc.
• Providing financial information for new business tenders and suppliers
Due to the seniority of this position the preferred candidate would be able to demonstrate a diverse skill set, able to deputise in the absence of other directors if necessary. A basic knowledge of HR and employment principles would also be useful as you will be expected to manage staff in a positive manner and review colleagues tasks. This role would be suited to someone who enjoys a challenge and would thrive in an environment where they can influence a business. A competitive salary is on offer along with a 35 hour working week and potential for company car.
