Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity in our dynamic Group IT Team to join ZIGUP as a Data Engineer!
Reporting to one of our Data Engineering Managers, you’ll be an integral part of a remote team driving numerous projects across our organisation. Your expertise in SQL will be put to excellent use as you craft solutions on the MS SQL server stack. Comfortable with Agile and Kanban methodologies you’ll be familiar with work management environments such as Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub and related work management and change control tools.
As part of our new Data Platforms Strategy we will be reviewing our existing technology footprint adopting new techniques and tools available through partnerships with Microsoft, SAS and Idera and utilising the best available tools both on-premise and in the cloud. Developing data solutions using cloud technologies will be advantageous. However, we’re committed to supporting your growth through a structured personal development plan. Hands-on experience is key, and we’ll ensure you’re equipped to make meaningful contributions swiftly.
As a team, we thrive on managing the business-critical need for data and responding to business change requirements, both in terms of small agile change and larger projects. About you
* First and foremost, you’ll be passionate about data engineering, manipulating data to allow the business to build reports and make decisions.
* You will be able to build data warehouses using Kimball methodology and experience using a Data Vault 2.0 approach would be of interest.
* You will be able to demonstrate skills in data tools, data theory, and design.
* You may have proven experience in Data Development and ETL pipelines as well as performance management skills such as query plan execution improvement and database indexing approaches.
* You will have extensive knowledge of the SQL language.
* Experience in developing in cloud technologies such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric would be desirable.
* Having good knowledge of the Microsoft data stack (SSIS, SSMS, and SSRS) is essential to becoming an effective member of our team.
* Good team working skills and the ability to clearly communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical people in the business.
* You’ll have excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
