Graduate Pop Culture Merchandiser
  • England,South East,Berkshire,Reading
  • full-time
  • £27,000 - £30,000 per annum
Job Description:
Do you like driving?
And meeting people?
Do you have an interest in popular culture (films, music, games etc)?
And are you looking for a job you can take pride in?
Then read on…
You will be working for one of Europe’s leading suppliers of licensed pop culture merchandise. They supply a range of items with branded images. So, things like mugs, posters, t-shirts, etc; with images including Harry Potter, Manga, Friends, Pokémon, The Beatles, and many more. This will include the latest artists and films.
The items are sold through retailers; and one of the contracts they have is with a leading supermarket. Sometimes there can be issues if things aren’t ordered, or displayed; or if the area where they are displayed is generally not looked after.
Which is where you come in.
You’ll be the face of the business; representing the company. You’ll meet Managers of the supermarkets, discuss new lines with them, and help them place orders.
You’ll take pride in your area; make sure it’s well stocked and tidy; and take away any items that are not selling so well.
You’ll build relationships with the Managers; they will come to know you and expect you. Though some of them may not be as easy to deal with, so you may need a bit of persistence at times.
WHAT AREA YOU WILL BE COVERING
You’ll be covering the South, which is a big area stretching from Truro, to Eastbourne, and including south Wales.
There will be some overnight stays; for example if you visit one of the furthest away areas from you, then you can stop overnight (paid for by the company); then visit some other local sites the next day. It will involve a lot of planning and organising, to decide when you visit each shop.
WHAT HOURS YOU WILL BE WORKING
Monday to Friday ; 37.5 hours a week. The actual hours are up to you to a great extent, and will tie in with when the Managers are available on site. So you may need to set off early for some appointments. You may prefer to work 4 days a week, with longer hours on those days.
WHAT YOU WILL GET
A fully expensed van or car. £27,000-30,000 a year salary. Plus a phone and tablet.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
You’ll need a full, clean, UK driving licence. You will need to be happy driving; and spending lots of time on your own. But you’ll also be happy meeting people, and being upbeat even when you may not feel like it.
You will be a bit isolated, as the main office is not near to you (though your Manager will be in regular contact); so please make sure you are happy with this.
Degree type is flexible; something retail or merchandising would be good, but don’t worry if you don’t have this as training is given.
This role may also be ideal if you are thinking of getting into field-based sales, so you can see how you get on. If this is of interest, there will be opportunities in the business.
WHERE YOU WILL BE BASED
From home, and within the area covered. Somewhere around Reading would be ideal.
WHAT TO DO NEXT…
If you fit the profile then please send your cv asap. We will then speak more about the role and business, and how it may match what you are looking for.
