Skilled Machinist

Shift Pattern: 3 on 4 off Nights.
Nightshift 3 on 4 off - working a 16-week rotation - (one shift Sunday Monday Tuesday Nights 3 x 12-hour shifts with paid lunch working 7pm to7 am) (Second shift Weds Thursday Friday Nights)

Rates:

3 on 4 off nights - £24.74 per hour
Sunday to Friday overtime paid at £28.33.
Saturday overtime paid at £31.56.

To operate as a multi-skilled, flexible worker to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency. Tasks will be undertaken and worked with:
• Machining of parts aircraft parts to drawing specification
• Checking of parts using conventional equipment including height gauges
• Micrometres, vernier, callipers to meet required specification.
• Working to engineering drawings
• Manufacturing to defined high tolerances
• Manually or mechanically move components to ensure the effective flow of production within the cell.
• Deburring for onward safe handling only

Key Responsibilities
Ensure parts are produced on a ’right first time’ basis
Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
Record all downtime on OEE sheets
Management of machine stoppages with maintenance and escalation as required
Completion of Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM)
Management of 5S within area ie. tooling, work set station and general area
Employee Involvement (EI)

Export Control Requirements

Champion ’Export Control’ compliance activities, ensuring you and where applicable, members of your team, adhere to the site ’Technology Control Plan (TCP)’, guaranteeing compliance with Export Control Regulations, controls, training and systems.

Health and Safety Requirements
• Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities
• Reporting of all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company’s procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions.
Responsible for keeping machines tidy and maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s)

Qualifications required are Apprenticeship or equivalent - (Modern Apprenticeship will have NVQ 3) or 4 Year Apprenticeship City and Guilds Level 3 or higher – If EU Country Certs tend to be 3 Year or longer in a Technical College with the third Year completed on a shop floor
