Job Description:
Our client is a well-known high-end fitout & restoration contractor based in South London. They provide bespoke fibrous plastering finishes, high end fit out & heritage restoration services to commercial and high-end residential properties across the UK.
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee their financial operations. The Financial Controller will manage all accounting and financial functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with industry regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.

Financial Controller
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition specific to construction projects.
* Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
* Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
* Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
* Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
* Manage job cost accounting and ensure accurate tracking of project costs.
* Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
* Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
* Ensure compliance with construction industry standards and regulations.
* Provide insightful analysis to support decision-making at the executive level.
* Monitor and analyse accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
* Improve financial reporting and streamline existing processes.
* Analyse project profitability and provide recommendations for financial improvements.
* Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
* Drive process improvement initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
* Work cohesively with team members at all levels to ensure financial goals are met.
Financial Controller
Position Requirements & Desirables
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
* Certification in accounting (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
* Proven working experience as a Financial Controller or a senior financial management role - experience in the construction industry is desirable.
* Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
* Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
* Strong Excel skills and proficiency in construction-specific financial software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, QuickBooks Contractor).
