Product Manager - Food

12-18 month contract.
Salary - £35,000 - £40,000
Bournemouth - Hybrid
Do you want an opportunity to contribute to the success of the development of a growing exciting category?
We are seeking a dedicated Product Manager to join the R+D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new products and improving existing ones to meet consumer, brand, and business needs. This role requires a creative and analytical individual with a strong background in food science and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
Innovation & Renovation Projects:
* Develop and manage R&D innovation and renovation projects for BTS categories, ensuring timely delivery aligned with category strategy.
* Investigate the feasibility of food ideas.
* Participate in and create food briefs with marketing and other stakeholders.
* Develop and deliver tasty, nutritious foods that meet consumer, brand, and business needs.
* Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, including GON, sustainability, age stage suitability, and shelf life.
* Oversee industrialization, working with supply partners to scale up and implement new products.
* Attend factory trials and launches, ensuring successful food delivery.
* Contribute to problem resolution and continuous improvement with suppliers and other functions.
* Test and evaluate alternative raw materials with suppliers for contingency and cost savings.
* Present products to key stakeholders.
* Ensure all foods are safe and meet specified quality standards.
Project Budget Management:
* Manage individual project budgets to ensure financial targets are met.
Food Ideas & Innovation:
* Contribute to the long-term food plan by understanding supplier capabilities, attending food shows, investigating new raw materials, and participating in innovation workshops.
Champion the Innovation Process:
* Lead by example in delivering R&D responsibilities r
* Ensure all foods are safe, authentic, legal, and produced to the specified quality.
About you:
* Experience within a product development position through FMCG - Approx 3 years.
* Innovate and recognize opportunities for change.
* Produce alternative solutions and articulate features and benefits of ideas.
* Keep job knowledge up to date and seek customer feedback.
* Maintain schedules, follow instructions, and ensure professional experience in product development, nutrition, and food technology.
* Proven team player with strong project leadership skills.
* Working with people.
* Creating and innovating.
* Delivering results and meeting customer expectations.
