Job Description:
An excellent opportunity for an ambitious Antitrust, Competition & Trade Associate Solicitor to join one of the largest Competition Teams in Europe at a future facing, international law firm. You can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
You can expect to work principally on public procurement and subsidy control matters (both non-contentious and contentious). This is due to growth in these areas following legislative reforms to both public procurement and subsidy control.
The team comprises 7 partners and a team of other fee-earners, plus a dedicated Professional Support Lawyer based largely in London, but also in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Brussels. It is part of a wider Competition Group comprising more than 225 competition lawyers worldwide. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career in a dynamic and internationally focused competition team, with a balanced practice across transactional, contentious and advisory work.
Associates are encouraged to take on high levels of responsibility and client contact is encouraged. From day one your role will include business development activities within the team and across the firm’s sector groups. The team undertakes a significant amount of cross-border work, cooperating on a daily basis with our international offices and the role will include travel.
Applicants will ideally have 0-5 years of PQE and:
* experience/training in public procurement and a willingness to learn on subsidy control and the new UK subsidy control regime post-Brexit.
* a general interest in mainstream antitrust compliance and investigations, merger control, public procurement, subsidy control and regulation and trade work, additional experience/training in competition law will be beneficial.
* excellent communication and drafting skills - the ability to communicate succinctly is a must
* strong commercial acumen and be able to provide clients with focused strategic advice
