Job Description:
TfWMs Delivery Directorate is expanding to support the delivery of c£1.2 billion capital transport infrastructure portfolio. As a result, we are looking to add a dynamic Senior Project Manager to our Transport Portfolio Office, supporting the evolution of our Metro Programme, delivering significant extension and enhancement projects across the region. This is a critical role that will be part of building and establishing new discipline and supporting a growing team that empowers and enables progress across the programme.
Working closely with the Programme Lead, technical and delivery colleagues, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders, you will establish and oversee robust project management support for the delivery teams, working across projects in metro. This integral role in the team facilitating timely progress and successful delivery to time, cost and scope to the agreed business case.
This role requires someone who is dynamic, a critical thinker, a creative problem solver and has strong interpersonal skills. You will have significant experience of delivering construction projects and be a resilient leader that can inject positivity and nurture and develop a growing team.
What you will be doing. * Work closely with the Programme Lead, overseeing the implementation of best practice project management in the programme.
* Lead and support the completion of critical programme deliverables, overseeing and supporting project and delivery managers to enable timely progress on projects.
* Establish and manage stakeholder communications across the programme and in support of projects.
* Establish and implement project level governance, processes and practices and monitor performance of all projects.
* Provide senior management support and advice to project and delivery managers and act as a point of escalation for any project risks and issues.
* Support the preparation and completion of major change controls, project and board reports for approval and dissemination.
* Ensure accuracy of information and transparency of project progress, helping to facilitate risk, scope, cost and schedule management.
Whats essential. * Significant, demonstrable experience delivering major infrastructure projects, for Transport (i.e., Light/Heavy Rail, Highways).
* Significant experience coordinating the work of multi-disciplinary project teams and line management experience.
* Proven experience establishing and implementing project controls, governance, and reporting.
* Experience of contract management through the procurement and management of suppliers.
* Experience working with and managing internal and external stakeholders/partners/funders on behalf of a project.
* Substantive experience leading large project teams to successful completion.
* Excellent organisational, written, and verbal skills.
* Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure.
* Professional project/programme management qualifications or equivalent experience: APM, PMP, Prince 2
