Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Service Design and Transition Manager for client based in Birmingham to join their team and play a key role in shaping their service offerings and ensuring smooth transitions.
As the Service Design and Transition Manager, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of new or significantly changed IT services, ensuring they meet the needs of the business. You will manage the transition of these services into the operational environment, overseeing the entire lifecycle from initial concept to full deployment. Additionally, you will handle IT contract renewals, updates of Terms and Conditions, negotiations and ensuring that all agreements align with our strategic goals, provide maximum value keeping a real time view of spend.
This role offers remote working with travel to the office roughly twice per month and extra business needs.
Key Responsibilities of the Service Design and Transition Manager:
* Design and develop IT services in alignment with business needs and ITIL best practices.
* Manage the transition of new or modified services into the operational environment.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive service design and transition plans.
* Ensure all service designs are cost-effective, sustainable, and supportable.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define service level agreements (SLAs).
* Conduct service validation and testing to ensure readiness for deployment.
* Oversee IT contract renewals and negotiations, ensuring timely and cost-effective agreements.
* Maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers.
* Monitor and report on service performance and transition activities.
* Identify and mitigate risks associated with service design and transition.
* Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
Experience required of the Service Design and Transition Manager:
* Proven experience in service design and transition within an ITIL framework.
* Strong knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
* Experience with IT contract management and renewals.
* Excellent project management and organizational skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Experience with service management tools and software.
* ITIL certification is highly desirable.
