Service Care Finance are currently recruiting for a Services Accountant to join the Planning and Environmental directorate at a Local Authority in Surrey on a temporary basis. The postholder will provide quality financial advice and information to Heads of Service and Budget Managers to support their decision making, financial planning, monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of the final accounts, including producing working papers and liaison with the Council’s external auditors.
* Preparation of revenue estimates.
* Providing monthly revenue budget monitoring reports for budget managers.
* Supporting the development of the Medium Term Financial Strategy
* Providing financial advice, information and support to budget managers.
* Reconciliations of control accounts.
* Government returns and claims.
CandidateCriteria
* CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant
* Experience of working in a similar position in a Local Authority
* Experience of budget setting, monitoring and reporting
* Experience of contributing to the preparation of final accounts, including liaising with external auditors
* Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
