Job Description:
Meraki Talent are currently working with a leading utilities organisation to help them identify a Senior Regulatory & Governance Manager in this newly created role.
The purpose of the role is to lead all Regulatory, Compliance, Risk and Legal activities for the business, and to ensure that regulatory compliance is promoted and maintained across all departments.
The role is responsible for advising the Leadership team and key internal stakeholders on all regulatory and legal obligations and Market codes and rules, establishing processes and controls to ensure compliance with these obligations, and maintaining our corporate risk management system.
The role holder will have on-going responsibilities for influencing the development of the regulatory and market frameworks in England and Scotland and identifying and developing opportunities as a result of regulatory change. The role is accountable for ensuring the business is aware of and prepared for changes or propose changes in legislation, regulation and market rules.
Some of your duties and responsibilities will include:
* Own and manage the relationship with the regulators, seeking to influence the development of the legislative, regulatory and market frameworks.
* Build relationships with other stakeholders to influence issues of common concern as necessary.
* Develop and maintain an Assurance Process to ensure compliance with the Licence Conditions and Codes, the Governance Code, Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation, providing reporting on compliance to the leadership team and the Board.
* Support operational teams in developing a full understanding of their regulatory and compliance responsibilities
* Working with internal legal counsel and utilising outsourced legal support where appropriate, to provide legal advice across the business.
We are looking for candidates with:
* Knowledge and experience of operating at a senior level in a regulated environment is required, preferably within Utilities, Government. regulated agencies and industries (e.g. energy, telecoms, etc).
* Working knowledge of Ofwat and MOSL in England, and WICS and the CMA in Scotland desirable but not essential.
* An understanding of the UK political and policy environment, with particular reference to water and utilities.
