Job Description:
Role Summary
Working as part of an established team within the Military department, this role is highly skilled and will undertake to strip, repair and assemble aircraft structures, components and sub-assemblies for various aircraft. Reporting directly to the section Flow Leader/Shop Floor Manager, you will participate within a team and work with functional specialists (such as engineering, Quality, etc) to ensure production requirements are achieved safely, on time and to the customer specifications

Starting Salary: £35,710.11 (£29,758.43 + 20% shift allowance)
Uplifted Salary (once AO stamp obtained): £36,768.75 (£30,640.63 + 20% shift allowance)
Hours: 14:15-22:30pm (Mon - Thurs) 12:00-18:00 (Fri)
Essential Responsibilities
* EHS - Promote a safe workplace environment without risk to health and minimising the impact to the environment. Ensure that all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and that all accidents and incidents are reported
* Clocking and Booking - Ensure that all required clockings (time and attendance) and bookings (job costings) are made in an accurate and timely manner
* Housekeeping - Ensure that workstations are kept clean and maintained, with all tools and equipment stored correctly. Uphold a clear desk policy
* Quality - Ensure that all Quality standards, processes and procedures are complied with. All work is completed with care and attention minimising wastage
* Cost Management - Support cost reduction and management initiatives through reducing unnecessary expenditure
* Knowledge & Skills - Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations to the best of your knowledge and belief to achieve specification and acceptable standards for your role. For example, Approved Operator (AO) stamp(s) to be kept up to date
* Team Working - Must actively participate in team meetings and be prepared to share knowledge, coach and mentor trainees when required, be willing to be trained in other areas
* Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role
Role Specific Will include but is not limited to:
* Hold Approved Operator (AO) stamp for necessary operations / jobs within area. Approve own work when, to the best of your knowledge and belief, the requirements / drawings specification and standards have been fully achieved
* Read and follow work instructions, specifications and part drawings (accessed via PC)
* Read and interpret engineering data, technical drawings, specifications, repair schemes, Manufacturing Procedures (MPs) and other approved maintenance data
* Operate under own initiative and work with minimal supervision
* Accurately complete work route cards to maintain component traceability
* Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role
* Military focus
* Measuring and marking out of materials to carry out close tolerance hand fitting processes
* Precision drilling, countersink, reaming and finishing of holes in aircraft structure assemblies
* Application of assembly techniques including riveting, mechanical fasteners and other bonding processes
* Sealing and jointing techniques for environmental protection and sealing of aircraft structures
* Assembly of pipework for various types of aircraft
* Alignment, rigging, pressure and functional testing of aircraft control systems
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering or Manufacturing, or Time-served apprenticeship in allied trades
* Numeracy, literacy and IT skills, and able to read and understand technical documentation, including via computer/IT equipment
* Good planning and problem- solving skills
* Working understanding of the 5 S and lean principles
* Strong work ethic supported by a real positive attitude to succeed
* Excellent communication skills
* Demonstrate the currency and competency of the key skill codes required within department
* Great attention to the detail and accuracy of the task requirement
* Proven ability to actively participate in a team culture
* To be able to work with minimal supervision
* Shift working required
* There are certain aspects of this role that require mechanical / manual lifting of parts so some lifting will be required and applicants must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance if required.

* Previous experience of manufacture of complex metallic and composite structures
