Job Description:
Children and Young Persons Residential Care Officer (Grade 7)
Location: Multiple locations around Kirklees and Dewsbury
Contract: Full-time, Rota-based
About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children and Young Persons Residential Care Officer (Grade 7) to join our team in providing exceptional care to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, aged twelve to eighteen, across our mainstream homes. Additionally, we offer support in our long-term disability home and short breaks unit for children aged seven to eighteen.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the development of individualized care plans based on direct input from young people and behavioural observations.
* Address daily living needs derived from the child’s care plan, including:
* Health and Care needs
* Physical and Emotional needs
* Educational needs
* Cultural needs

* Provide varied day-to-day care, such as personal care, meal preparation, shopping, and ensuring overall well-being.
* Maintain approachability for young people to discuss personal concerns and provide necessary advice, guidance, and support.
* Keep accurate records and perform administrative duties, including handling petty cash, to ensure smooth operations.
Training and Development:
* Receive a comprehensive induction and mandatory training in safeguarding, movement, and handling upon commencement.
* Follow a Learning and Development pathway with detailed procedures updated biannually.
* Pursue a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, registering within 3 months and completing within 18 months, with support for classroom sessions and coursework.
Collaboration:
* Work effectively with other agencies and professionals, including Social Workers, educators, and health colleagues.
Equality and Inclusion:
* Promote and uphold equality in all activities and services provided to young people.
Requirements:
* Enhanced DBS check.
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent or the willingness to register and achieve it within the specified timeframe.
* Proficient IT and recording skills.
* Experience working with children and young people.
* Ability to work with individuals with restricted mobility and/or challenging behaviour.
* Undergo medical screening post-offer, as required by Employee Healthcare.
