We have an exciting opportunity in our dynamic Group IT Team to join ZIGUP as a Senior Data Engineer!
Reporting to one of our Data Engineering Managers, you’ll be a key part of a remote team driving projects across our organisation. Your SQL expertise will be utilised in crafting solutions on the MS SQL server stack. You’ll work in Agile and Kanban environments using tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, and GitHub to drive impactful projects across the business.
Responsibilities:
* Review and adopt new technologies and tools from Microsoft, SAS, and Idera as part of our Data Platforms Strategy.
* Manage cloud data technologies (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse) and hybrid cloud solutions.
* Improve performance through query optimisation and database tuning.
* Collaborate with Data Architects and Database Administrators to refine data approaches.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders and portray a professional image to business users.
* Support and mentor junior team members.

Salary- Up to £52,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience.

About You:
* As a senior member of the team, you always ensure best practices are followed, pivotal in implementing the data strategy, and providing support, coaching, and mentoring to new and junior team members.
* You’re passionate about data engineering and enabling business decisions through data manipulation.
* Your skills allow you to build data warehouses using Kimball methodology and have familiarity with Data Vault 2.0.
* You are proficient in data tools, theory, design, ETL pipelines, and SQL Server/Azure SQL.
* You have experience with cloud technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and data stack (SSIS, SSMS, SSRS).
* You’re a great communicator with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* You can identify query optimisation opportunities and plan the implementation of improvements.
* You are comfortable presenting and justifying proposed solutions to peers and senior colleagues.
