Position: Nursing and Care Home Group Manager
Location: Flexible working from home, across Brandon Nursing and Care homes, other locations as required, and remotely using Brandon technology
Accountable to: Head of Quality
DBS Status: Basic disclosure required
Salary: Up to £27 an hour
Key Purpose:
Brandon Trust provides a range of services in response to the diverse needs and aspirations of the people they support. The Nursing and Care Home Manager is accountable to the Head of Quality for the effective management of several geographically identified Care and Nursing Homes. This role involves significant responsibilities to the people supported by Brandon, their families, staff, the Executive Leadership Team, the Board of Trustees, Commissioners, Regulators, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Provision and Quality of Services:
* Ensure all services meet high-quality standards in line with the needs of the people supported by Brandon, their families, and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate and optimize area resources, ensuring compliance with governance standards.
* Report to and collaborate with the Nominated Individual (NI) on HSCA 2008 and applicable regulations.
* Oversee registration details, nurse revalidation, notifiable incidents, safeguarding, health and safety, CQC inspections, and service improvements.
* Champion person-centred approaches and ensure involvement of the people supported in service delivery.
Leadership & Staff Management:
* Lead and manage a team of nurses and Registered Managers, promoting high standards of individualized care and quality improvement initiatives.
* Provide clinical management and leadership, fostering a culture of professional development and excellent care standards.
* Align area strategy with the overall organizational direction and ensure high capability and competence among staff.
* Promote staff engagement, continuous improvement, and effective workforce management, including recruitment, retention, training, and performance management.
* Contribute to transformation and improvement programs, enhancing care, staff experience, and financial performance.
Financial Management:
* Ensure robust financial management and governance, adhering to financial instructions.
* Support budget-setting processes and manage area budgets effectively.
Contract Management:
* Meet contractual obligations, including reporting to commissioners and contracting authorities.
* Influence commissioning intentions to ensure Brandon’s services’ ongoing viability.
Business Development:
* Support new business opportunities, ensuring operational viability and risk management.
* Maintain competitive services.
External Stakeholder Relations:
* Build and maintain productive relationships with families, commissioners, regulators, unions, partners, suppliers, and service providers.
* Act as an ambassador for Brandon Trust.
Governance:
* Apply effective governance and risk management approaches.
* Comply with delegated authority schedules and Brandon Trust policies and procedures.
* Ensure data security in line with GDPR regulations.
* Submit high-quality reports to formal committees and ensure KPI data collection and utilization.

Safeguarding:
* Act immediately to safeguard people with learning disabilities from abuse and report any instances of alleged abuse.

* Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999.

Education and Training:
* Current registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Relevant ILM7 or degree-level management qualification (or equivalent professional experience)
* Level 2 literacy and numeracy
* Full driving licence
Achievements and Experience:
* Minimum 3 years operational management experience in a CQC regulated social care sector
* Experience in clinical supervision of nurses and leading revalidation of nurses
* Proven record in managing budgets, staff leadership, developing new services, and contract management
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and quality assurance regulatory environment
Skills and Abilities:
* Demonstrate Brandon values and leadership behaviours
* Positive approach to working with people with learning disabilities
* Ability to work on own initiative and lead and motivate staff
* Collaborative team worker with strong stakeholder relationship skills
* Commercial awareness, strong financial management, and business development skills

* Proficient IT skills, including producing accessible documents
