RSR Housing are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Bath for a Support Worker for adults with Autism spectrum disorder.
The purpose of this role is to assess and support clients to develop independent living skills that will enable them to move from low-level support to independent living within about two years. Facilitate access to services that meet client health, social, educational and employment requirements, taking account of client aspirations and needs. Ensure clients are accessing and managing the benefits that they are entitled to
This is a full-time, (37.5 hours per week, participation in an on-call, out-of-hours rota) Permanent role, offering a salary of £24,500 per annuum.
Main Duties:
* Build positive and effective working relationships and agreements with relevant external agencies.
* Progress and track referrals made into the service and outcomes for Clients moving on from the service
* Complete needs assessment/risk assessment for clients leading to the delivery of key elements of support plans which meet individual client’s needs and self-selected aspirations
* Give clients emotional support, information and provide an enabling service so that they can be signposted to and access appropriate services
* Participate in an on-call rota (£100 additional payment) providing support to clients outside working hours.
* Support organisational initiatives which seek to promote Client involvement and inclusion.
* Support Clients in contributing to the development of new and existing services.
* Support Clients to engage in consultation events both within the organisation and in the wider community.
* Ensure that organisational administrative systems, including Petty Cash and rent/service charge collection are accurately maintained and updated.
* Work at all times within the Health & Safety and Environmental Health legislation and within safety guidelines established for the project.
* Engage actively in own supervision, using annual appraisal to set and agree own performance targets and training needs.
* Work in accordance with the organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy and with all its other policies.
* Undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities
Essential Requirements:
* Have full driving license and access to own car.
* Good knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, email and basic spread sheets.
* Experience working with vulnerable adults with complex needs and/or challenging behaviours
* Understanding of benefits / housing benefits systems
* Understanding of the causes of offending, homelessness and social exclusion and approaches which seek to address these.
* Ability to undertake Needs Assessment and Planning for people with complex social needs which includes taking a lead on multi agency working and partnerships.
* Previous work with homeless and/or other socially excluded people.
* Working as part of a team in a social or health care setting.
* Working with people with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
