Sales Manager
Are you an experienced Sales Manager or Business Development Manager looking to make a significant impact in a growing company?
Our client, a well-established electrical and mechanical engineering contractor with over 30 years of experience in Construction, is seeking a talented Sales Manager. Operating predominantly in the North West of England, they offer a diverse portfolio ranging from Reactive Maintenance, Testing & Inspection to full Design and Build / Project Management.
Role Profile
As the Sales Manager, you will join an expanding team and gain insights into all aspects of site performance, including cost, quality, service, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have experience in business development and sales, ideally within the industry. You will collaborate closely with other teams to achieve sales outcomes, market the firm’s products and services, and set achievable sales goals.
Initially, you will maximise incoming and existing business, then drive efforts to grow the client base and expand the internal team, aiming to become the top contractor in their chosen sectors.
Responsibilities
* Manage existing client accounts to ensure satisfaction, provide education, and sell services.
* Identify and contact prospective clients to establish relationships and win new business.
* Follow up on and confirm outstanding quotes/works.
* Work closely with other teams to achieve sales outcomes.
* Market the firm’s products and services to generate leads.
* Contribute to website and social media content to establish a clear brand identity.
* Set achievable sales goals and track progress towards them.
* Prepare reports and maintain a filing system.
* Respond to RFPs and write sales quotes.
* Implement new software and learn current in-house systems.
* Attend conferences and training sessions to develop your network and skillset.
* Train less experienced associates to help them achieve their goals.
Experience We’re Looking For
* Experience in a similar Sales / Business Development role.
* Strong sales skills, including negotiation and overcoming objections.
* Proactive, autonomous, self-motivated, and goal-driven.
* Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and basic computing tasks.
* Experience working within construction and/or a services environment is desirable but not essential.
* Personable with good communication skills, confident in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* A motivated and enthusiastic team player.
* Diligent but efficient working practices.
* Able to work towards deadlines with a strong eye for detail.
Hours
* Full-time, permanent position, 40 hours per week.
* Flexible office hours with 07:00/08:00/09:00 start times.
* Mainly office-based but allows for client visits as you manage your own diary.
Salary
* Salary up to £35,000
* Bonus/Commission to be put in place
* Workplace pension scheme.
* 23 days holiday plus public holidays.
* Based in Manchester City Centre but willing to travel when required.
