Secondary School Teaching Assistants (SEMH)
Long-term Teachers are working with a fantastic secondary special school in Swindon seeking 3 Teaching Assistants to join their enthusiastic team in September on a full-time basis. The right candidate should want to inspire young minds and make a real difference in education. This school are an essential part of the community and play a pivotal role in these students futures.
Located across 3 sites in Swindon, the secondary school is committed to providing support to students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (SEMH) among other special needs & disabilities. One of the vacancies is that their main secondary site, another is more of a 1-1 role and there is also a role at their Adolescent Unit School. The AUS role is looking after students that suffer from major mental health issues so requires someone empathetic who has incredible resilience.
Position Details:
* Role: Teaching Assistant (ages 11-16)
* Start Date: September
* Location: SN2, Swindon
* Contract: Full-time, Long-term/Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing general emotional support to students across the school
* Assisting class teachers with lesson planning and overall classroom management
* Providing 1-1 support for students with SEMH & ASD
* Being proactive in your support of the students
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Experience working with secondary-aged children, preferably within a UK setting.
* Being strong/confident in dealing with challenging behaviour
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* Passion for mental health within education
* Team Teach training preferred
